Black Lives Matter

03 June 2020

We stand in solidarity with those speaking out against the injustice faced by the black community in America. We know we cannot be complacent here in the UK where injustices can also be found and wider inequalities have meant that Black people are hardest hit by COVID-19, and are more than four times more likely to die from COVID-19 than white people. We all have a responsibility to speak out against racism, inequality and injustice wherever we find it.

Post-COVID UK must see a concerted drive to end BAME health inequalities and economic and social injustice, and Southwark will continue to play its part. Discrimination and oppression must be rooted out.

As representatives of one of the most diverse parts of the country, we are with you all because #BlackLivesMatter.
